Ceropegia sahyadrica f. karulensis (Punekar, Tamhankar, Lakshmin., Kumaran, Raut, S. K. Srivast. & Kavade) Kambale & S. R. Yadav

Ceropegia sahyadrica f. karulensis (Punekar, Tamhankar, Lakshmin., Kumaran, Raut, S. K. Srivast. & Kavade) Kambale & S. R. Yadav

This form is apparently restricted to four localities in the Kolhapur District and the Ratnagiri District in Maharashtra, where it grows within grass tufts on steep hill slopes, and as undergrowth in shrubby vegetation dominated by Karvi (Strobilanthes callosa Nees), at elevations of 400 to 900 m.

The form was originally thought to be Ceropegia lawii Hook. f., until it was described in 2013 as a new species. It was finally downgraded to the status of a forma in 2015. [1][2]

It differs from the ‘normal’ form mainly by its corolla lobes, which are ovate-cordate instead of linear to lanceolate. [2]
